Hi everyone!
I saw my Rheumatologist yesterday and on the R.A front I am now
considered to be doing so well over the last strange 7 months of "barely
there" symptoms that I have been told to cut down my Plaquenil (Hydroxychloriquine
Sulphate) tablets to one a day!
I have to say I find this quite scarey, as years ago, when he suggested I do this the
symptoms came back and how! But I was much more ill then with it all.
Still, last night when it was my usual time for the second tablet, I found it really weird
to not take it!
I had my annual "hands and feet" X rays yesterday and was very relieved when no erosions showed up.
Because since all the Spine problems I have wondered what would show on other X rays!
The Rheumatologist managed to call up my M.R.I images of my Spine on his computer
and I got to see them for the first time!
He thinks that it was opening the stuck Victorian sash window that injured me and that over time, even
'though it may take a long time, it will get to be more pain free.
He pointed out the vertabrae that is crushed down and it is exactly where I get the worst pain.
It was a very good appointment and even though the Clinic was running late he gave me loads of his time.
I could not have asked for anything better.
Best wishse,
FionaSmile

What a *perfect* appointment if appointments with rheumys can be perfect!

I am so pleased for you, and hope the decrease in Plaquenil is very easy.

Much love,

Amanda

Curious to know what happened with teh window - did you fall? . Did they say what the options were if any for your back.

Hi Fiona

A very positive outcome. Fingers crossed things progress well for you on the lower dose of Plaquenil and that time will help ease the pain in your back. take care,

Hi Fiona, looks like a good appointment. Hope the decrease in hydroxychlorquine goes ok. Are you on pain meds for the back problems? Take care x

that is WONDERFUL NEWS Fiona I am so pleased the RA monster is firmly in his box and apparently going into long term hibernation.

So pleased to read it is going so well, and that the xrays are good ones.

Hi Fiona,

Glad it went so well!

Hope the reduced Hydroxy won't bring back any of the RA symptons. Here's looking towards a bright futureThumpUp

Hi

That's really good news for you but perhaps it would be a good idea to decrease the hydroxy gradually. I take two tablets one day and only one the next and this has worked well for me. If you feel OK after a while then you could go down to one per day. This would give you the chance to test the water without too many problems.

Good luck Brenda

Glad you had such a good appt, Fiona. It must have seemed strange to see your x-rays, I'd love to see the ones of my back.
